Dating without sex as someone who experiences attraction?

Does anyone have experience with this?

To be clear, I’m don’t have a crush on an ace person, I just think I would like it.

In fact, I did like it. I was in a relationship where this was a rule (bc of a meta, yes, I have learned that lesson and would NOT repeat that particular situation/dynamic). While I didn’t appreciate the dynamic of being told we couldn’t have sex, overall knowing that we wouldn’t have sex was such a load off in the moments where we were physically and emotionally intimate.

What similar situations have you been in? How did you like it? Did you have sex with some partners but not others? What feelings and conversations did it bring up for you and your partners? Any advice for navigating this dynamic?
