The majority of the accounts posting in the "hookup"/r4r subreddits are outright spam.
And then, there's still a significant number of accounts that are either fake profiles but not easily identified as spammy because it's likely a real human(s) behind it, or they're those (presumably male) people who are just fantasizing about the lifestyle and using you all as their, umm, "inspiration".
For outright, obvious spam, we're able to identify and remove it so you don't have to see it. Why Reddit doesn't do this is beyond us.
We've identified and banned 537,884 individual pieces of text content (think, titles/post body/photo captions).
We've also identified and banned 8,747 individual phrases (think, kik/telegram/etc usernames).
Any Reddit user that is found to have posted any of the above banned content is automatically "spam banned" in our system. Their posts are flagged as spam, they're removed from search results and their posts/content aren't shown in your feed.
We don't go as far as completely removing them from the system because it turns out to be very helpful in quickly identifying, to you, the users when you're dealing with someone who isn't who they're claiming to be.
The content and accounts remain visible to you, but with a big Spam Banned flag and only when you go looking for it on their profile.
879,246 Reddit Accounts have been flagged as spam
Example: Let's say you're a fun couple heading to Las Vegas for a last-minute trip and you're looking for a third. You run across a profile that looks like a great fit and you come look it up on ENMLounge. If they're spam banned, you'll see that and be able to see why they were flagged as spam. In this case it's because the photos they're using to portray themselves actually belong to a prolific member of the r/MassiveCock community and have been used by dozens of other accounts. Now you don't have to waste your time fulfilling their fantasy while you miss out on real profiles.
