How do I achieve mindfulness? This seems like an abstract concept when I try to visualise it.

I struggle with ADHD. I've had mindfulness suggested multiple times as an option to help my inattentiveness and interpersonal struggles that arise from being neurodivergent, and I've tried excercises that have been suggested, however when I practice them, it feels like I am just sitting quietly for five minutes. I feel like I am getting nowhere.

I'm clearly missing something fundamental to mindfulness, but I'm not sure what it is.
