Contactless card (credit/debit card or other related contactless card) has been around years ago in the United States with introduction of mobile wallets such as Apple Pay (including Apple Card), Google Pay, Samsung Pay etc. Most recently, some major banks start issuing contactless card such as Chase, Discover, BofA, American Express, and so on. Contactless payment/card is now trending in the US.
