Colombia are unbeaten in their two previous games against Japan.
Colombia beat Japan 1-0 in the group stage of the 2003 Confederations Cup. The sides also drew 0-0 in a friendly in Japan in 2007.
Keisuke Honda has had a direct involvement in four of Japan's last five World Cup finals goals (three goals, one assist).
The Blue Samurai have never beaten a South American side at a World Cup. They lost 1-0 to Argentina in 1998, 4-1 to Brazil in 2006 and drew 0-0 with Paraguay in 2010 (subsequently losing in a penalty shoot-out).
This is the first time Colombia have won more than one match at a World Cup, and they have already equalled their record for goals scored at the tournament (five).
Juan Cuadrado has assisted three of Los Cafeteros' five goals in Brazil.
James Rodriguez has scored in his last four appearances for Colombia, including their two World Cup matches. He needs one more goal to become Colombia's top scorer in World Cup history.
