Hello! I am generally a pretty absentminded and unorganized mofo. But I am trying to organize my life and build some habits that will improve my life. Sleep is at the top of the list.
I go to bed at extremely late crackhead-esque hours, generally early morning. Lately the earliest I sleep is 4ish AM. The latest would be 7 O'clock, or sometimes later. And I wake up at around 5PM.
Sleep is something I've been trying to figure out for awhile, and I've been talking about it with my therapist for months. After my most recent appointment, I figured I'd take a more active role and be more proactive. So I put a coffeemaker in my room, set to make coffee automatically when I want to wake up. This has definitely been helpful, but I want to find a similarly proactive way to sleep earlier also, a "hack" like the coffee thing. Any ideas?
On a sidenote, I was diagnosed with sleep apnea a few months back. I figured once I got on a CPAP machine, all of my sleep shenanigans would be resolved! This was not the case... I have become less irritable, so I know the CPAP helps, but I still sleep long hours, and I still tend to be fairly drowsy during the day. Paradoxically, this drowsiness generally doesn't translate to me sleeping earlier. My goober brain thinks time late at night is "free time," where I can do whatever I want, whereas I have a few obligations to deal with during day-time, making it .."not-free-time." So I'm having difficulty tricking myself into sleeping earlier.
I am trying to tweak my CPAP settings and stuff like that, for better sleep, but I've got no idea what I'm doing. But I did get an SD card for my machine, so it can read how I'm sleeping, and I can later put it into a program to view it and make adjustments to my settings. So CPAP ideas would be helpful too! Anyway, thanks in advance for any help!
Also I take Amitriptyline, which I fear may be making me drowsy and making me sleep more than I'd like. This is something I'm also figuring out. Any ideas about that would be cool too!
