I(m30) know this is an immensely first world type problem but I can't help how much it irritates me.
I do not like getting gifts. I think it started in middle school, don't really know why.
For whatever reason getting a gift makes me feel immensely uncomfortable and guilty.
I've made this clear to family and friends And most respect my wishes. But some simply can't help themselves. I'm genuinely grateful and polite and everything but I can't stress how clear I've made my wishes known and how I wish they would respect them.
I've attempted to refuse gifts before but what happens is either the person gets very upset and I relent or I don't relent and then I get a bunch of angry texts and calls.
Again, I know this a problem that's not a real problem, but I'd appreciate any advice.
Tldr: I hate getting gifts and some people refuse to respect my desire to not receive them.
