ETA: I'm no Saint. I have a hard time understanding when I'm behaving poorly. I respond very strongly emotionally to most uncomfortable situations and I cry over everything all the time (anxiety, I'm working through it) so it's not like he hasn't put up with a lot from me too; especially in the way of hypersensitivity and overreaction. This is just my side of the story and it likely paints him in the worst light because I'm dwelling on all of my frustrations. There are positives too. I lost my job a couple months ago and he stepped up and paid the bills with the money he had been able to save until I got a new job, he is open and honest about his feelings and will communicate them to me. He is very sweet.. rubs my belly and talks about how lucky he is to have found me.
Like the title says, trying to decipher if my actions were appropriate, or if I am just hormonal & crazy. Sorry for the verbal diarrhea.
Backstory: I (33F) am 19w pregnant. My fiance (32M) and I have been fighting a lot lately, possibly at some fault due to pregnancy hormones I don't know. I work FT, pay 99% of the bills, and watch his kids (6M/8M) on the weekends.. he leaves for work at 7am and comes home at 6pm be he has a long commute. I have very little time for myself, and we have very little time together . he gives me money for car insurance and groceries. He was a SAHD when he was with his ex, so he hasn't built a career and doesn't make much, so this was our agreement. We moved to a new house, and since then he's barely done anything to help unpack or get ready for our baby. He goes and plays disc golf with his friends, or hangs out with his ex and their kids on the days he has off. Its important to note: we have had numerous arguments with this over boundaries. I support them being adults and doing things together for the sake of the kids, but i don't feel it needs to be so often (1-2 nights a week), and they don't need to be talking about their personal lives/messaging all day long. I feel like the frequency of his visits makes it so we miss out on what little time we have together (we have different days off, and Iwatch his kids on mine) I understand him wanting to spend time with his kids, but I offered that maybe 1 of those 3 nights we can both do something with SKs together. He believes I'm overreacting and just beinv jealous.. I try to compromise with him because he says he needs to do these things for his mental health, and for the kids,so I will ask him to get xyz done and the rest of his time is his, he will make excuses as to why he didn't do it for several days; and then tell me that I manifest my own reality because I get upset about the stuff not getting done, causing it to not get done. Every other we discuss this, he first apologizes and tells me if it's important to me, he'll try to be better. But the next time it comes up, he tells me I'm too high strung and hung up on stuff getting done. The most recent argument (yesterday morning) was me just telling him I'm feeling extremely overwhelmed and how important to me that he just helps me out and does the things he says he will... conversation ends in the "I understand, I'm sorry I will get xyz done tonight."
conversation happened 2 days ago, and yesterday: Dad just had hip surgery, so I told my fiance I wouldn't be home in the evening as I was heading over to care for/visit him. He had asked to play disc golf before daylight savings time and he would no longer have time to get rounds in after work. We made a compromise and we agreed that he should go play,. But I would appreciate it if he could please at least get to x (out of xyz- 3 things i had asked him to do 3 days ago) gets done. 9pm comes around and not one of the projects is complete. I've made dinner, I've done the dishes/cleaned up and I've walked the dog. However, I feel bad this might be his last night to throw so I again compromise and tell him to still go as long as he can do x&y tomorrow. He said this was reasonable and even pinky promised me.
FF to last night:
I text him 45 minutes before I came home and asked him if he had done x, he goes "oh shit, I'll do that now right after I finish this beer.". Cool, so he's drinking and still hasn't gotten it done... it's late, I'm pregnant and hormonal so here's where I need to know if I overreacted. I walk in the door, and he's playing video games with his headset on. I look at the screen and see he's playing online with his ex. I immediately lose my fucking mind... I burst into tears and haul this heavy ass box upstairs with my pregnant ass and begin to complete X myself. Apparently I scratched the hardwood in my house in the process bc he comes upstairs and starts complaining about the scratches on the floor, and how it was so bad/irresponsible of me to be so "jealous & impatient" that I decide to do x myself instead of just waiting for him to do it when he got up in the morning and was sober. I'm sobbing uncontrollably at this point, grabbed my keys, mumbled some shit at him about not wanting to be around him and went back to my parents house.
I'm thinking of staying here for a few days to figure out what I want to do. Im not trying to leave him over this, but I need some time to consider the relationship and figure out how.we are going to work this all out because I'm tired of arguing and don't want that to be the world our baby knows. I tell him I need more effort from him, and suggested counseling, but he tells me it's just the hormones and that he understands why I'm angry but I'm overreacting... "he played video games with his ex for 5 minutes and didn't put together furniture".
I haven't slept and I keep bouncing back and forth between this has become a major issue, and will cause more issues long term if we can't come to a resolution. and "you're really gonna do all this because he didn't do his chores?". So I'm just looking for opinions of strangers on the internet to help me realize if I'm just being stubborn and hormonal.
TLDR; I want to know if my reaction is appropriate bc my fiance chose fucking off and playing video games with his x instead of keeping a small promise to me.
