Long story short, this morning my doctor called and told me my swab came up positive for HSV-1. I got some sores in my genital area swabbed on Friday. I bawled, hell, I’m still bawling. Doctor didn’t say specifically “genital HSV-1” but she said HSV-1. I told my partner and he was understanding. “As long as it’s not genital herpes idc” he said. But... that’s what it is.. I think. He gets home from work soon and I hope he doesn’t accuse me of cheating or even worse- leave me. How the hell did I get this?!? Is it genetic? My mom has cold sores?? I feel so gross, ashamed, scared and embarrassed. Please help me before I possibly just drink myself to death.
