Post Body

TLDR: I got my friend at a restaurant, I got a promotion and heā€™s upset. His performance has been terrible and heā€™s been stabbing me in the back while Iā€™ve been helping him trying to have him keep his job but he says I treat him like a ā€œslaveā€.

What should I do? And this Monday Iā€™m in charge of the kitchen.

Last July I got a job as a dishwasher at a local restaurant. Over time I did really good and I slowly started to cook food. In October I got my friend a job at the restaurant as a dishwasher. At the time he actually made more than me do a mistake by the previous manager while also performing worse and being newer to the job.

Around December his low performance was being shown more and he was on thin ice very close to being fired countless times. In February we hired another dishwasher(who was the regional managers son) so I finally started to cook full time.

By March he was jealous at me being a cook and him not being. Covid hit and we were off work for a bit. May came around and they needed another cook after receiving the stimulus checks so I came back to cook and wash dishes, a month later my friend came back and so did the other dishwasher they hired in February. I needed a week off and the February dishwasher began to cook, my friend was incensed by this.

Fast forward to now and he is upset still, his performance at work has been utterly terrible. I have to help him every night just so he isnā€™t there all night long. Heā€™s a terrible worker, heā€™s on his phone or in the bathroom instead of washing dishes. He wants to be a cook so bad that he doesnā€™t really do dishes.

Tonight he has the audacity to get upset at me for telling him what to do. I needed something and heā€™s supposed to have already brought that to me, earlier in the night he had been disappearing to the bathroom whole having a massive pile of dishes. He doesnā€™t have any health conditions that would cause him to frequently use the bathroom for 10-30 minutes. He said I treat him like a slave at work for demanding things (that heā€™s supposed to have already done). He said that I need to worry about my job meanwhile Iā€™m not the one receiving constant complaints.
