I(24) have been dating my gf(25) for about just shy of a year and a half. Apologies if this isn't all relevant, in my mind it is. She never really cared for my mother from the first time they met. Stemming from the lack of help she gave to me, while my siblings got much more(financially, attention, whatever it may be). I personally didn't care that much, it made it easier for me to move away, and start a life independently of my mom. However I still go home to visit my family and she comes along because she cares about me. However, my mother always says or does something that really aggravates my gf, even when I and my siblings try to keep them separate. My mother is overbearing and quite honestly a little nuts! How can I reconcile it? My girlfriend told me that when you date one you get the family. It's causing a rift between us because she doesn't want to be effected negatively by what my mom does and what my mom failed to do for me.
