background: I kept my baby dog, Momo, after her mom (who I also own) had her first litter. while her mom was pregnant, my doctors told me if I ever get pregnant, I will most likely die (I have lupus and countless other issues including a blood clotting disorder, so I could die from falling down wrong or too hard -_- ). so momo quickly became basically like my own baby, I even pulled her out of her mom after some complications with her birth and popped her sac thing.
my neighbor was watching a dog for the first time and I had no idea it was even there when I let my dogs out. immediately it went after momo, and Momo was bleeding and could barely stand. I brought her to the vet. she had a seizure when I went to the bathroom and died immediately. when I came home and told my neighbor momo did not make it, she said it was her brothers girlfriends dog, (an old friend of mine from high school, which was almost 10 years ago) and they wouldnt put the dog down. I get that they wont put the dog down, but their dog killed my dog.
it's also worth mentioning, that I am on disability and have a fixed income that already is waaay less than my bills (I'm talking, I get 650/ month when that is the cost of my rent alone, not including utilities, food, gas, car payments....) so 500 $ is extremely expensive for me. if momo had made it, I would not even ask, but momo did not make it, and it's this chick's dogs fault. I would like her to pay for the vet Bill's, (note not my neighbor, she had no idea what this dog was like, and she said that dog is never allowed over again and should be put down). I dont know what to do, not only did I lose my baby, but now I'm going to be scrapped for any kind of money for like the next year or more. I feel greedy even asking.
edit: my dog (4 pound momo) was on a leash. the other dog (60 pound black lab) broke off his leash so he could get to my dog
my dogs are always on a leash, the other dog I guess broke off the leash to get to my dogs.
I dont want their dog put down, but at the least, pay the bill, and get that dog in obedience school
edit: I guess they got the dog off craigslist one day because they were bored (source: my neighbor, the boyfriend's sister)
this is true about the responsibility thing. momo was a sweetheart and didnt deserve that kind of death:( the worst she would do is bark at you and the come up to you to burp in your face lol I'll look into the legal advice.
it happened in my yard. the dog broke his leash :( momo was 4 pounds, and it was a black lab that attacked her. she didnt have a chance

I'm mostly questioning that too, after this post. like my neighbor is a total sweetheart and has been with me and cried with me this whole time, but it wasnt her dog, and it was her first time watching that dog. I love her to bits and really dont blame her, especially since she has put her own dog through obedience training and her dog is like T R A I N E D. my neighbor has epilepsy, and her dog is like a service dog and everything. so I'm super conflicted. I know my neighbor would not have just let a dangerous dog go wild.
