Hey guys & gals!
Seeking support after a breakup from my 4 year relationship. Any advice helps.
Having a hard time getting over the situation. I've always had a hard time letting go of past relationships. Something I've always struggled with. My newly ex and I have 1 kid together (boy 2 yrs old) that lives with me majority of the time. Eventually we have to see each other which is going to be a struggle on my end.
We come from a rocky recent past. 11/2023 we broke up. Never had issues before this but she was talking to another guy and got pregnant. I made poor decision of trying to reconcile and was successful. Jan/2024 We worked things out, we supported each other and lived together with minimal issues. The guy she got pregnant by was out of the picture during her pregnancy. Her due date was Sep/2024. Right before this time a past woman who I had interest in at one point decided to reach out to me.
Given the emotional difficulty of the situation I would talk to her about my feelings and my relationship with my GF. Bad Idea, obviously my vulnerable emotional state led me to confide in her more and more and eventually we started flirting. She lived in another state so nothing physical ever happened.
During my GF birth of the other guys kid, I present and was by her side. Very tough. As time passed I grew more distant from my GF as this new girl and I confided more. My GF noticed and eventually found out.
It was dramatic but we agreed to continue working on things and I cut all communication with the new girl.
Things we're progressing smoothy as we started communicating more and prioritizing our feelings. I helped her get a new apartment near her work that would help cut down time with driving for her baby sitter etc. This was Nov/2024. As of today Jan/16/25, we are freshly broken up. On new years she was very persistent on spending time alone at her apartment. I found this strange because what couple wouldn't spend time together on New years?
Anyway, we recently had a few snow days here in DFW and she stayed at my house for several days while her work closed the office. Everything was great, no issues etc. She had a work party on the weekend that I thought went really well. All of her co workers said we seemed perfect together and this was my first time meeting and spending time with them.
During the week she stays at her house because it's close to her work. She has Wednesday's off usually so this week I decided to surprise her at her house to spend some quality time together since the baby was spending time at the grandparents house.
When I arrived she was not all to happy to see me. We had a big conversation about privacy, space, and she said she cannot get over the fact that I was talking the the new girl and broke it off. It does raise the suspicion that she's talking to new people. Who knows.
Now I'm in emotional limbo. Any kind words, advice, or thoughts are appreciated.
