An ongoing issue in our relationship has been that he makes abrasive jokes and I take them literally and end up crying or getting upset. A week ago, I bought laundry softener instead of detergent and he kept harping on it the rest of the day. Then before bed he made a comment along the lines of āhow was the laundry detergentā and I asked what his problem was. He said he was going to stop joking with me and that I take everything too literally and cry too much. I was shocked and didnāt say anything and went to bed. For the past week heās been cold and distant borderline ignoring me. Iāve communicated my feelings and asked him to elaborate on his but he gets very defensive and makes it out to be that Iām the problem and that heās not going to joke with me anymore and that heās helping me āget over itā by doing this. Iām so upset and frustrated I donāt know what to do. The vibe is off and I just want him to go back to normal. I hate this! How can I fix things?
