He and I met in the beginning of December and have been on three dates so far, going on our fourth next week. (I was out of town visiting family for three weeks and am getting back tomorrow, but we’ve kept in touch). We have great chemistry and I can see it leading to an exclusive relationship soon, but it’s a bit too soon still to make it official.
Anyway- I’m not sure how to proceed with Valentine’s Day. I’ve only been in one other relationship and we were dating for less than a year and were not together for Valentine’s Day so this will be my first valentines with a potential date. Maybe I’m overthinking it but I’m not sure how to proceed. Like, am I supposed to officially ask him to be my valentine? Or just ask him more causally if he wants to do something on the day? Am I supposed to give him a gift when I ask? I feel like we’ve been seeing each other for long enough that it would be weirder to just ignore the day entirely
Another thing to note is that he is not from this country (USA) and has only lived here for about 4 years (and has been single the whole time). Based on what I found online it is very uncommon to celebrate valentines in his country and some even find it offensive/controversial. He is not the type to be offended by that type of stuff but I’m also definitely not expecting him to take the lead on this one given that information. The ball is basically in my court here
