How do I (25F) get a uni friend (20F) to leave me alone?
Post Body

I’m a little older than you average university student, but I just started my first year in a field that I love. I met Laura (fake name) on the very first day of school. I’m really struggling to not sound like an asshole, but I can’t bear to be Laura’s friend anymore.

I don’t really seek other students’ company and I don’t go to uni parties or go out with them. Once again, most of them are freshly out of high school. I try to stay on my own and study, but she keeps finding me.

Laura is a very privileged kid. She loves bragging about her family. She has very little social awareness. She is very talkative, especially when she is talking about herself, which is all the time. She will trap you in a one way conversation about her life and completely stun you under a countinous flow of words. She will also treat you like an idiot the entire time of this exchange.

Hiding in dark corners isn’t effective. Opening a book and telling her gently that I’m going to study isn’t effective. Help please.
