I 24M met my longtime bestfriend 24F recently. It's been 10 years of friendship and we are really proud of that. She likes to be stylish and precisely chooses how she dresses, with often sophisticated clothes.
So I noticed her new pair of fashionable shoes and asked her about it. And then she answered me like "Oh yeah I bought them recently, I like their details blah blah blah ... so you see I make myself beautiful for you, my <my first name>" (it's been many years since we sometimes call each other my <first name> and I don't find it strange, just affectionate since I also do this with my guy bestfriend). And I felt weird, I automatically thanked her for that and changed the topic.
Later, she wanted me to read something she was not able to, so I asked her why she did not bring her glasses and she replied "I don't really like how they fit my face so I didn't get them to make myself beautiful for you". It also felt strange.
For the woman here, do you dress yourself well for your friends in a casual setting? I mean she looks nice in those clothes but I really don't care if we meet and she is not dressed up, like for all my friends. She is the only female friend I have who have done this. I can see the effort but I don't want her to feel obliged to do it. It's the first time she tells me this and I thought she was always dressed up for herself and because she likes fashion. I am struggling to understand the situation and I don't know how to react.
