GF often doesn’t respond when I speak but is always engaging with friends. How to proceed? - 33M 29F
Post Body

I’ll preface by saying English isn’t her first language but also I don’t take it as an excuse bc she doesn’t have a problem speaking with friends. Always is lovely and engaging when out at the bar with her fitness or some event like an art exhibition. But when it’s just me and her, like doesn’t seem as engaging. Usually no follow up. Sometimes she talks about her life, hobbies passions, stories, and past, but when it’s me speaking on these things, I feel like I’m talking to myself.

It makes it worse when I noticed this behavior is only with me. She has plenty of friends and I don’t think she would if she acted that way towards them. I’ve mentioned it to her before.

She’s mentioned the English thing before, but it hit no she’s quite good with the language. when her friend has talked before even a more complex subject she had no problems.

She is the type that does silent treatment / shutdown when upset, but in this context of this post im talking about lack of engagement when there’s no argument or fight taken place.

It’s frustrating, annoying, wears down on me. Feel dumb like idk what to say and don’t want to be passive aggressive but eventually I just stop responding when she talks unless asked a question . Which then obviously upsets her and based off following behavior probably makes me look like a cold bad guy. Then I passive aggressive behavior, it’s a unpleasant cycle.
