Excuse me if this is a stupid question but a friend of mine said that her and her long time boyfriend have a healthy relationship but they aren’t that close to be considered best friends. I’m genuinely curious because to me I’ve always assumed if you are in a romantic relationship with someone then they can probably be referred to as your best friend. I just feel like it’s impossible for you to be in a romantic relationship with someone and potentially live with them without you guys being close enough to be considered best friends. How can you have a bf/gf and not tell them everything or confide in them ? Is that not the purpose of a relationship. I’m asking this question because I keep hearing people talk about how they weren’t really that close to their significant other and it never occurred to me that was a possibility.
