A few months ago my BF at the time, let’s call him S, showed me he was interested in the meta quest headset and I hinted that it would be a great birthday gift. I had already started saving up in January for a big ticket present since it would be for his 30th but wasn’t sure what to get/do for him until after that conversation. My “S B-Day Fund” immediately turned into a “Meta Fund” and I was working on getting the large capacity headset plus accessories and protection plan. We broke up but remained amicable and I purchased it anyway since I had most of the money already saved up.
On Sunday and going into Monday shit really hit the fan. It looks like we’re not going to remain friends like we originally thought but the purchase has already been made and his birthday is in just over a month. We still live together for at least another few months — he’s trying to leave early but not sure how that will work tbh. Anyway. It was for his 30th, a big one, and I wanted to surprise him with a big gift even if we were just going to remain friends. Now I’m not sure what to do. Return it, sell it, give it to him anyway and part ways?
EDIT: more clarification on events timeline
