Two months in should i(28F) know if they(26F) are the one?
Post Body

When you decide to start dating someone officially, is it because you see them being a long term partner that you will marry or is it something you decide along the way through time getting to know each other deeper?

I’m confused because my ex made me feel bad because I said we were still getting to know each other after two months of dating and she asked ‘so you don’t think we are the real thing?’ I feel like that’s too early on to know since we were initially complete strangers. But also I’ve never dated anyone before so everything was new to me so I kinda thought it was assumed we should go slow . I’m not sure if I doomed the relationship by saying that but I still would feel the same way if I got into another relationship and tbh would take it slower next time round.

My fear was that she was infatuated with me and when she realised what I was actually like (that didn’t match the image in her mind) she might leave me. I felt like she didn’t ask enough questions to get to know me. But that might be my low self esteem talking. It was a very sudden breakup. I felt very pressured to move the relationship along. She wanted me to ask her to be my girlfriend two months in which I was fine with bc I liked her but I felt like she hasn’t really gotten to know me properly and was worried she would find out something she didn’t like about me and break it off so because of that I wasn’t sure if I could see it working out long term. So whenever she brought up marriage I was unsure.

I feel like at six months I’d have a good idea of if it would work out long term. I just felt that I needed to see how we handled different stressful situations to feel confident we could work through any issues that may arise.

Im curious to hear your thoughts!
