Next month will be my friend's 30th birthday. His main issue is that he'll turn 30 and still be a virgin. Online dating hasn't gone well for him and he's not really good at talking to women in person.
We went out for drinks the other day and he brought up this sore point again. I told him that losing his virginity late (I lost mine fairly late) wasn't a big deal and shouldn't let media make him feel bad. He snapped back at me saying "well you lost yours way before 30 so you don't know how I feel." It might be the booze and my irritation talking but I jokingly said, worse comes to worse we can get you a hooker as a gift. He looked like it was going to happen and I told him that I was joking and repeated my stance of saying that virginity isn't necessarily a bad thing.
Now I'm kind of worried he's now looking for a hooker. I really don't know what to do.
tl;dr: Friend really wants to lose his virginity before 30. After a self-pity session where I tried to be supportive I stupidly joked that we could get him a hooker before his birthday as a gift. Now he's considering actually doing it. How can I talk him down?
