I hope this is the right place to ask. A few years ago, there was this guy I work with that I was seeing for a couple months. He was very persistent in pursuing me. Ultimately we were incompatible and I broke things off with him. I’ve been very quiet with my involvement with him and him and I have barely spoken since we used to hook up. I saw him at the Christmas party this past year but avoided him for the most part. I have heard through the grapevine that he has a girlfriend now.

Fast forward to now, I saw him tonight at a work party at the bar. Him and I were having friendly banter, but he kept grabbing me aggressively at my waist and the back of my neck. I kind of pushed him off me and told him to stop in a light-hearted way. Later on, he came up behind me and whispered, “I don’t know why I’m so attracted to you.” To which I said, “Don’t you have a girlfriend?” And then he just walked away.

I was at the bar getting a drink and he came up to me again and was like, “what’s your problem tonight, why are you mad?” And I was just being short with him, saying I’m fine etc. At this point, he grabbed me super aggressively at my waist and pulled me toward him and I took his hand and shoved it off me. Before I could say anything, this girl that I barely know at work came up to me and was like, “hey, do you want to go over here for a minute?” And then she asked if I was okay and said she saw what was happening. I left the party shortly after that because I felt uncomfortable.

My question is, is this worth getting HR involved? He has been creepy with another girl at work before ( I learned this after I was seeing him lol) I feel like I can’t say anything given my past with him, and I partially feel like it’s my fault. I can avoid him for the most part as he’s not in my department and I work remote, but I don’t think it’s fair that he can get away with his creepy behavior.

TLDR: should I report this guy to HR for being weird even though I used to date him?
