Advice for having a positive experience talking of thoughts, feelings, boundaries, etc

Just looking for advice about how to go about this. For those following along in my journey thus far, R and I are having a sit down talk tonight about what’s transpired in the past couple days.

R has assured me that they are looking forward to talking about things I’ve been reading and the thoughts I’ve been writing down while they’ve been away. We talked a little this morning when I stated that this is what I need today and they agreed to it tonight once they’re done work. We spoke a little about some things and I was just so nervous and scared the whole time which I expressed.

Even now as I wait for them to be done work I’m sitting here with my stomach in knots, feeling I could cry with how scared I am for this. I know it’s very much needed so we can establish properly what is needed for the both of us. I just want it to be a positive experience and not end in a fight or negatively.

So any advice how to have this go as smoothly as possible tonight? Thank you everyone who’s helped me this far
