Help! Polyamorous Compartmentalization.

My wife and I are venturing into a more open world and we have different expectations/wishes. I (39M) want an open relationship where we can share the love/texts/sex everything. She (37F) needs to compartmentalize each relationship to function. She tells me that when she wants sex it is person specific (i.e. I can’t fill the need of the desire is for her playmate). This is difficult for me as I do not think in such compartmentalizes terms.

I am currently reading “The Ethical Slut” to help with my own understanding of this new culture. Any advice that you could give would be much appreciated :-)
