How did you tell your family or other important people in your life about your polyamorous lifestyle/orientation (however you view it)?
Post Body

As the title suggests, I'm looking for advice/stories of how you told those close to you about your multiple relationships? I'm married and have been with my NP for 9 years this month. I've been with my boyfriend since last August. He is a big part of my life and I would love to include him in conversation with my family but I'm not sure how to tell them that he's my boyfriend. I know I could use the direct approach but I'm not sure if they will fully understand it or even care. I thought I would start by telling my brother because he is more open minded. I think my parents will struggle to accept/understand it as they are very religious. I could ramble on and on about how I think thing will go but I'd like to hear other people's experiences, please!

EDIT I forgot to mention that all of my family is long distance so everything would be via phone/texting.
