I came out as poly to my grandma (who absolutely does NOT have dementia)
Post Body

This is obviously a reference to this lovely post: https://www.reddit.com/r/polyamory/comments/1ec6x3g/i_came_out_as_poly_to_my_grandma_who_has_dementia/

My Gran is 90 and currently in a very bad place bc she nearly lost her eyesight. She's more witty than any of you, has the memory of a 20 year old and is extremely open minded. Because of her situation, I was staying with her in between the operations she had and since we were both in the house 24/7, bored and stressed at the same time, we would talk about really random stuff.

I've been with my partners Rose & Pepper for 3 years now, so of course Gran knows their names, knows we are close. So at some point when we were chatting I mentioned Pepper. I wasn't even talking about him per se, just mentioned him and Gran just interrupted me, and it went more or less like this:

Gran: So this Pepper is Roses boyfriend, right? Or is he your shared boyfriend?

Me: ...

Gran: ...

Me: ...

Gran: Or is it more like.... you're their shared girlfriend?

At this point I just lost it and burst out laughing. I told het that's actually a pretty good description of how things are. Her only comment was like: "Ok, NOW I understand everything... but earlier you were saying...?". Absolutely 0 fucks given, she was just confused before and now she isn't and we can continue with our chat.

Rose actually helped me with Gran recently so they met each other and immediately took a liking to one another. Thank god for chill grandmas. They've seen war, they're not disturbed by random queer shit :D
