Hi all,

I'm (40sf) looking for some advice on how best to end one of my relationships. We've been together for nearly three years, but it's long distance. It won't be a huge shock as I have been talking about the fact that we have some incompatibilities and the long distance is starting to grind me down.

My question is how best to do it? It's too far for me to go and have the conversation face to face (which would be my preference). I'm assuming it's best to phone and to do it Friday evening so that they can spend the weekend not working and with other partners for comfort.

The other option I'm considering is sending a text (still Friday evening) and asking if they'd like to have a phone call and if so when is best for them.

I love them and want to do this as kindly as I possibly can. Any advice much appreciated.
