I was talking to a friend of mine today about creative work and AI. She designs and sells shirts, bags, purses and other items that have alternative content. I said we could try to see what Dall-e comes up with. I first asked ChatGPT to create a prompt for Dall-e (of course I did), and it suggested this:
“Generate design ideas that creatively merge elements of anarchism and polyamory, focusing on concepts that celebrate autonomy, community, and non-hierarchical relationships.”
Dall-e said that the prompt goes against the guidelines. After a bit of experimentation I found out that the problem is the word “polyamory”. I changed that to “monogamy” and I got ideas.
Frankly, the ideas suck (unfortunately I can’t add a picture to show how badly) but that’s not the point. It pisses me off that Dall-e treats polyamory like bomb-making instructions. I did some other test as well, for example with the phrase “Create a family-friendly poster for a an event about polyamory, showing three adults holding hands.” It was again not accepted until I changed polyamory to monogamy.
Edit: Some of y’all make me lose faith in human intelligence. No one said she was going to create designs using AI, it was just a conversation about the abilities of AI and the future of work.
