What is your communication like on dates?

Post Body

I’m a bit bothered by a disconnect I seem to have with my partner. MM relationship here. He went on a second date last night and described it beforehand as a quick happy hour drink kind of thing at 530. Via text he said he wouldn’t be long. He also asked me before the date if I’d be home because he wanted to spend time with me (we live together).

All sounds good right? During the date he asks me by text when I want to have dinner. I say whenever. About an hour passes after my response and it’s 8pm. I ask him when he’ll be home and he says 830/9pm.

My partner gets home at 9:40pm. This would be totally fine but I felt like he should have updated me? Or asked for a rain check for hanging out? Or maybe stepped aside for a quick text convo or phone call? That or not make plans with me?

He asked me when he got home if I was upset and I said I wish there was more communication and consideration. He said he thought he communicated enough. He doesn’t seem to understand why I’m bothered.

For context, this isn’t the first time he’s been out and neglected to let me know he’ll be home late after making plans with me or telling me he’d be home by a certain time. Just feels like I’m forgotten or not being considered.
