CAP3 Major Progression lift - question on max effort lift volume
Post Body

First round of CAP3, and just hit the first Major Progression lift day (DL).

My estimated Max is 300 (coming off of nsuns, so that correlates to the 270 TM I had there). My choices in the green row are:
215x6 -or- 230x4 -or- 240x2

The instructions say that if I complete the min reps, but don't set a new estimated 1 rep max, I should increase 5 lbs. This seems weird, as all three of the lift choices seem(ed) like they would be easy - I struggle a bit thinking that lifting 230x4 is enough to indicate that I should raise my max by 5 pounds. In fact the calculator (which, AFACT it right out of the Wendler book) says that if I can pull 230x4, that my estimated 1RM is 260.

Sure enough, I pulled 230x10 with possibly another few in the tank - but according to the estimated 1rm calculator, 230x10 puts my max at 306 (which I _could_ round up, but I'm not at all convinced I should raise my max DL by 10lb).

In a world without internet, I'd just raise my max by 5lbs, and move on, but I live in a world with reddit, so I will embrace the replies.

Also wonder if we need a pinned / regular CAP 3 question thread.
