To continue IF/LG or not for bulking
Post Body

So I started IF/LG about 2 weeks ago during a bulk. Quick BG I'm 33, worked out consistently for ~4 years and am typically in a caloric surplus/maintain.

When I started IF I weighted around 173 am and 176 pm. Since the 2 weeks of IF and constantly hitting my calorie/macro goal of ~3400 calories I can barely gain a pound. I feel like I may have lost a little body fat, I'm around 13.5-14%. (electronic, use multiple times to find a middle). I understand I can raise my calories to gain weight however I can't imagine getting more calories than I already get in that time. I'm already drinking 2 900 calorie shakes a day. (oats/egg whites)

My problem is getting all of my calories in the 8 hr window. I started IF to worry less about food and feel like now it's more of a concern. I'm tempted to stop fasting and just worry about hitting my macros daily regardless of timing. I also work out fasted (heavy lifting) and break fast pwo. My strength has declined from working out fasted and although I don't mind a strength drop I'm also afraid I'm not maximizing growth this way.

Really just looking for advice and the best move for my current situation.

Comments

IF is just a tool for food control. It wont matter if you fast 8, 16 or 23 hours, it is all about the calories and macro combination. This will not give you miracles, just stick to what works for you an forget about it. Hacks do not exist in human biology. People overthink too much.

If you like fasting and then eating a lot, then fast. If not, eat your breakfast.
