I've read a decent amount about the protocols for salt/water manipulation to cut weight for a comp, but I was hoping you guys could lend some more keto-specific advice.
In the past year I've followed the ketogains macros, maintained a ~30%, deficit (with a few cheats here and there), done SL 5x5 and started running. I was 305 this time last yr. Today I'm about 210 and stronger.
I've got a competition (highland games) in 8 days and unfortunately I've been stuck on a plateau for a few weeks now and won't make weight naturally. I've got to make 200 by Saturday morning next week. I've been drinking about 1gal of water a day, along with getting 5g sodium, 1500mg potassium, 300mg magnesium for the past several months. Starting today I'm going to start reducing sodium & potassium, stop creatine, and increase water to maybe 2gal/day. Then reduce water starting Monday. I plan to weigh in as early as possible morning of, and start rehydrating, getting electrolytes, and maybe have a carb up to help drive water into the muscles. It's an all day strength/power competition with 9 events, and I've got an hour or two between weigh in and comp.
Any tips or things I need to be careful of being on keto? I know our electrolyte requirement is higher, will I run into problems cutting it for a week? Any tips on minimizing chances of injury during comp?
