Hello everyone, a question regarding the title. First, little background.
1 (41 year old male, 109 kgs) have begun my keto journey almost 2 weeks ago with the primary goal to lose fat build muscle.
Am not sure if am fat adapted yet (from what I understand, it can take anywhere from 2 weeks to 6 weeks depending on one's lifestyle prior to it. Mine was a very carb dependent one so am guessing it'll take me closer to a month and a half to be fully in the 'zone').
I feel great though, cravings have gone, and feeling much less inflamed throughout my body.
My question revolves around fat loss & muscle gain though. I've always lifted (25 years ), and with more recent literature, it seems 2 grams per kg is approximately the aim of one who wishes to gain / maintain muscle. (Of course, this isn't set in stone and I know evervone will have their own opinion about this partโฆ.)
With this as a basis, my caloric intake would be about 2500 per day though.
Is this something realistic for me to both lose fat gain/ maintain muscle mass? Or should I not fret about the 2gr/kg so much and drop that ratio down?
How are you coming up with 2,500 calories a day?
