My problems on keto/Zero carb: Low libido/Mushy Pole
Post Body

Topic line pretty much says my complaints or problems on the diet. This was not strictly a ZC issue, as the same things arose for me when doing keto.

I've searched around a bit and see the problem of low libido popping up, but not nearly as often as the opposite: INCREASED sex drive when doing keto/ZC.

My normal ZC diet is 80/20 or 73 hamburger patties with cheese, salmon, cod, tuna, some chuck steak and a sirloin type every once in a while. Sometimes I will use mayo when starting. Weight loss happens pretty fast at a good pace (15 pounds in a month or thereabouts before slowing), so I know a caloric deficit is taking place. Not really by choice, though. I even had to google 'should I eat on ZC even if not hungry' because my appetite had died off so much. Anyway, at first when swapping... my libido just kind of takes off in a good direction. Ramps up hot! However, by around week 2 or so, I notice it will die off... and not come back. The longest I've done a keto/low carb was about 2 months. Each time I do these diets, it's always the same. I pretty much have it down to a timeline - eat carbs for a bit, sex comes back... eat too many in gorge mode, it dies. Go ZC and it kicks back up... only to plummet shortly thereafter. Libido is low and MUSHY pole syndrome pops up (or not, in this case).

This is my preferred way of eating for essentially every other metric... No reflux, nap time etc... but the reason I always quit this type of eating plan is forever the same - mushy pole! Low libido, and weak/brief erections. No morning wood etc.
