Hey y'all. So a little bit of an introduction into what brought me to begin keto before I jump into my victories.
The last time I weighed myself (before the incident that sparked my keto journey) was probably like January 2016, and I believe I weighed in at like 265 or 270. Over the course of the year, I knew I had gained weight, but I convinced myself that I had only gained like 10-15 pounds at the most--but I didn't own a scale, so I continued to live in ignorance. Fast forward to February 20th, 2017 when I went to the doctor's because I had a gash on my foot that I thought was infected (spoiler: it wasn't). I didn't think that they were going to weigh me, but they sure did, and to my horror I weighed in at 303.4 lbs. Officially my highest weight ever. I had gained roughly 40ish pounds in the course of a year. YIKES.
Soon after, I began doing my research on healthier ways to eat and lose weight, and that's when I stumbled onto keto. I told my best friend about it, and as a human biology major, he encouraged me to NOT pursue keto because of science reasons he tried to explain to me blah blah blah. Little does he know I'm doing it anyway. I officially started March 13th, but fell off the wagon when I traveled--oops! My 3-day cheat trip turned into a cheat week (that ended Saturday night), and I was super duper upset about it. This lead me to deciding to take my measurements yesterday in order to see if keto had actually done anything for me in the three weeks since I'd started. AND LO AND BEHOLD, I had lost 1 inch in my bust, and 2 inches from both my waist and hips. I couldn't believe it! I definitely didn't notice in the mirror, so I retook the measurements like 5 times just to make sure I wasn't tricking myself.
Later on in the day, I had a scheduled doctor appointment where they weighed me. Fun fact: I purposely scheduled this appointment so that I would be weighed again to check my weight loss progress. Turns out I lost 14 pounds. I'm at 289 now, and 1. I'm thankful to be out of the 300's and 2. I'm thankful for stumbling upon this sub, and kickstarting my weight loss. These two incidents definitely motivated me to get back on the keto train, and to stay on it! No more cheat trips/weeks for me!
Then to top of my Monday and really take it to the next level, I got a call from my dream job about a job offer! I thought yesterday was going to be like any other Monday--but it turned out to be way way WAAAYYY better. So, thank you all for answering some of my newbie keto questions, and for posting your successes on this sub. Without this sub, I'm not sure I would've ever hopped on the keto-train to begin with.
TL;DR: Weighed myself about a month and a half ago, discovering my highest weight was 303.4 lbs, decided to start keto, went on a trip where I cheated, felt discouraged, took my measurements--saw progress, then weighed myself and saw another point of progress, and now I'm back on the keto-train! Bonus: also scored my dream job.
