Day one of keto!

Hey guys! I'm happy to be a part of this community!

I've been doing IF for a few months or so now and since October ( 265 lbs ) I've dropped down to 243. I'm very happy with my progress so far but I'm gonna be taking a long vacation to an island in April and I'd like to look super lean!

I've been into powerlifting on and off for about three years now but I'm sick of being chubby and strong, so I've decided it's time to lean out and sacrifice the strength gains for aesthetics.

I just bought a ketonix so I can monitor my keto progress. It'll be here sometime this week.

Anyway, day one and breakfast was 6 eggs with some cheese. I'm going to the grocery store today to pick up all the keto foods that I need. Uncured bacon, coconut oil, high fat ground beef, pork, avocado, carrots, sunflower kernels, and lettuce are some of the things I'm picking up. I've been watching Jason Wittakers videos for a few days now and taking notes, and I just finished reading his keto mistakes article, so hopefully I'm well prepared.

I have just a couple questions -

  • Can I still take BCAAs and stay in keto?

  • Because of the high corn syrup and fructose content of ketchup, do I have to eliminate that?

  • Should I stop taking my morning protein shake? (2 scoops)

Thanks guys! And I'm open to any tips and tricks you guys are willing to offer!
