Mini Plateau after only 10lbs lost; Some questions about plateaus.

Hi everyone!

I finally started IF (20:4) three weeks ago after being a long time lurker. During the first week I lost 5lbs and during the second week I lost another 5lbs, but during this third week, I've been maintaining without any additional losses.

I've been reading some posts here on why people may be "plateauing" and how to get out of a plateau and I have a couple questions!

  1. I track my calories very religiously, so I know I'm not going over a certain caloric intake during my feeding window. Since I now weigh less, should I modify my intake or should I instead change my window?
  2. Is it true people only plateau after 6 weeks of weight loss, minimum? (I'm not sure where I read this. Please correct me.)
  3. My usual "exercise" routine is a very slow 5 mile jog (I'm a terrible runner) ~4x per week. Should I change things up? What routine would you recommend?
  4. Would you recommend a fast? When is a long-term fast appropriate? (this is a general question, not specific to the plateau!)
  5. Are there any other reasons I might not be losing weight? (I have a predominantly plant-based diet so I don't typically use oils/butter so it's def not that I'm overeating or underestimating my intake.)

Finally, I just want to say that I'm not too worried about the number on the scale as, besides weight loss, IF has been an amazing experience for me so far! :) I really enjoy the added attentiveness I seem to have during a fast and also the structure it has added to my life. I'm a lot more grateful and conscientious towards what I'm eating now. Thank you for taking the time to read this!
