Measuring Calories when cooking in bulk. Can't wrap my head around how to portion/measure calories
Post Body

Hi All.

I normally cook a big batch of food on the weekend to eat during the week.

For example today I cooked Bolognese sauce for a pasta dish. Raw Measurements are below

  • 1.5kg Mince
  • 3x Onions
  • 3x Garlic Cloves
  • 1L of Pasta Sauce
  • 1kg of Pasta

When I put this in myfitnesspal as a recipe and set it to 6 servings. It comes down to 1200 Calories approximately.

So the 1kg of pasta is cooked and the sauce is cooked

If I'm going to mix the pasta and sauce together and portion this out into 6 separate containers how do I measure this properly?

Do I just evenly split the sauce into the 6 containers and make sure the weight is the same, then do the same with the pasta, split into the 6 containers and make sure the weight is the same across them all

Is this all I need to do? Would this accurately match what's on my fitness pal?

Or do I just ignore the extra weight after everything is cooked and just split into 6 even portions

Thanks!
