My honest opinion on the GOMAD diet for my skinny “hard gainers”.

If you clicked on this post I’m sure it’s either because you are a very skinny guy who “eats a lot but can’t gain any weight”, or a very muscular individual willing to give there 2 cents which is great either way. Let me start this off by explaining that I was a very small, frail, paper-thin guy. I am 6’4” and was weighing in at about 165lbs (soaking wet). I was reading lots about the GOMAD diet and I loved milk at the time so I said screw it, picked up a gallon of milk and started going to town on the jug.

Everyday it got a lot easier to finish these jugs of milk and I gained around 10-15lbs in 4-5weeks. My muscle mass was increasing drastically as I could notice my shirts fitting a lot tighter and I started to get muscular man titties (probably due to the weight gain mostly).

I will say, the GOMAD diet really helped me grow a bigger stomach and I am able to ingest a lot of food… the side effects were increased back acne, constant diarrhea, and I sometimes would feel the need to puke because of the amount of fluid in my stomach. When I look back on it now I am so happy that I tried the GOMAD diet as it showed me I really can gain weight and I sure as shit was not “eating so much” like I always told myself.

I now weigh 211lbs and have a very decent physique due to hard work in the gym and focusing on my macros. Ingesting 3,500cals a day is very simple now.

Would I recommend trying it? Yes, in all seriousness if you are a “hard-gainer” and have convinced yourself that you cannot gain weight regardless of how much you eat and are very skinny for your height then GOMAD will really push you in the right direction, but be ready for the side effects and the constant trips to the toilet. In my opinion I think the pro’s outweigh the cons but that’s up to you to decide.
