For one, they have to get along. If they have conflicting views on policy, Shapiro is going to be the one to change or compromise for Harris, not the other way around. Is he willing to do that?
Secondly, Shapiro is a year and a half into his first year as governor. He can take credit for all the success and set himself up for a run in 2032.
The vice presidency is going to be a step back and an ego check. Harris is going to be running the show. Shapiro will have to put his ambitions aside for her because if she wins this year, she's running in 2028. Harris is going to be the one giving the speeches and getting all the political credit and capital
