What do you guys think of taking time off in the middle of your career? Has anybody done this? I once had two months of unemployment between jobs and it was the best two months of my life. I've been thinking about it ever since.
I think it conflicts in some degree to FIRE because your younger years are going to be able to compound for longer, but otherwise I feel like I'm going to burn out. I once heard of someone who would work for 4 years, retire for 1 year, and then continue the cycle.
I'm really curious what everyone's thoughts are, especially in regards to FIRE and maybe contrasted with a typical one or two week long vacation.
My specific details are that I would live out of my car traveling the US. It'll cost around $900/mo assuming nothing goes horribly wrong.
