41 today, spouse is 43.

One of our jobs covers all insurance premiums, but if we call that income we make about $175k annually. Spouse is looking for a new job right now, hoping for a slight pay rate, this is mostly about leaving a bad situation.

$0 in credit card debt, we use cards to lower the cost of purchases and pay off monthly

$0 in student loans, took advantage of $0 Covid interest to be done with them

$0 in car loans. Looking at a new (used) car in a year or two, want to have a healthy down payment for it.

401k account adds are relatively high. With good company matches we have equivalent to 22.7% going there, $36k per year. It’s mostly super low fee funds. Balance of $390k

Already putting a ton into low interest savings. Have a weekly $220 transfer and putting a lot extra right now to fund a project. it’s a mix of emergency fund and project money, like we’re doing pay as we go on a basement finish that we‘re debt free on. Have a $10k project coming and we’ll pay for it outright

Not enough going into kids 529 funds. Could do a lot more there. State taxes get a deduction for contributions of up to $16k but we took the standard deduction every year. It’s tax free withdrawls for education so it has benefits in a few years, oldest kid is 13.

House loan is at $187k at 2.875%

Our most recent financial change was we were paying the house down early. Putting an extra $415 per month to it. We switched to investing that in Vanguard ETFs. At 8% return will have enough from it to pay the house off in about 12 years. At 10% a little over 11 years. Before was estimating 14 years left.

Would like to seriously look at retirement in 14 years at age ~55.

What should we look at next to make 55 or better feasible?
