How on earth am I possibly gaining weight on the scale?

Post Body

I am a month in (9/9-10/9) to ADF with several multi-day fasts in between. Almost every day, I walk at least roughly 10 miles. When I eat, I eat my relative desired body weight in grams to protein (170-180 grams for a desired ~170lbs) and, as a guy, roughly 40-50 grams of fiber. When I eat, in adding my exercise and BMR, there is not a CHANCE I am exceeding the amount I burn vs my caloric intake.

Last Thursday, I weighed in at 228lbs down from 252lbs for a loss of 24lbs in just over 3 weeks. As of today, the following Wednesday, with 3 fasted days in between and starting my 3rd straight fasted day along with 64 miles walked, I am up a lbs and a half.

I understand the body tries to keep some fat on and I had issues with the scale a couple years ago when I did ADF and lost 100lbs in under 5 months, but this is ridiculous. I cannot see ANY reason how my body is able to maintain or even add weight when I am exerting so much energy and not adding. I also see the difference and feel trimmer.

I’ll even say these factors may hinder weight loss: - I have had alcohol on fed days - I drink diet soda on fasted days

Still, I do not have NEARLY enough calories to counteract losing weight let alone adding weight. The energy has to go somewhere. Please, what am I doing? This is absolutely demoralizing

Edit: I am curious if this could be an electrolyte/hydration issue. Has anyone else addressed this issue by fixing their electrolyte situation while fasting?
