I'm trying to do a fast. Started one night before last, 9/29/24 when I went to bed at 12AM. Not 24 hours a day. Just 18/6.
I once did a 'tea fast' lasting 10 days of only water, some coconut water, and Arise and Shine 'products' back at a place called the Sanctuary on Koh Phangan in Thailand.
Has anyone else here used Arise and Shine? The 'products' are three pills of mineral supplements, and three pills of what they call "Chomper". Yu take these every three hours, and alternate 'shakes', which consist of water, two small spoonfuls of psyllium husk powder, and a hydrated bentonite. These are supposed to help you.
I can't make it overnight yet. Yesterday was just my first awake hours without anything but the above. I ate like a pig the night prior, and am sort of cheating by counting my sleep time as my kickoff.
My SW/CW is 290. I have gained and lost 80-100 pounds four times in my life. I am 61.
So, all day yesterday nothing but lemon squeezed into water, and the shakes and supplements. Then, at 5PM, I had a green salad with apple cider vinegar and olive oil. Then a baked a spaghetti squash, and added olive oil, four big slices of mozzarella, parmesan (lots), a little salt, and tomato sauce. I ate half of the spaghetti squash 'boat', which was like a large bowl.
I also ate a bunch of carrots and hummus.
That was last night. I had made a bowl of whole grain wheat cereal with almond milk, and it sat by my bed but I successfully avoided eating the thing.
I was active. I have a lot of injuries, and am carrying a ton of weight, so can't go crazy, but I rode my bike on some hilly roads 4.5 miles to my local Y. I swam a little. Did 600 yards of a short warm-up, short drill, short IM, and warm down. I lifted some weights on their machine. Then I walked 2.5 miles.
Today I have been good, so far, but my wife starts with coffees in the AM very hard for me to resist, but I did. We one to the Y and did a stretch class and some weights on machines.
I just tried installing Life, Zero, and Easy Fast. None of them were that easy for me to figure out, as I had hoped I could input my exercise and meals eaten. I rad the Wiki on APPs so had high hopes. They did not seem very easy to add foods, or meals, or to adjust things like timing of the start, etc., as I had read others. I had hoped Easy Fast might be good, as I see recent posts of others using it. It is a stopwatch, so I have no way (via these APPS) of really knowing how much I am eating and losing per se.
I wish they could integrate well with a weight scale, and maybe some kind of food plan or scale or something. I try to eat as much unprocessed and whole as I can. I hope to be vegan as I always remind myself meats have animals and they have eyes and fears like us. Hard to stop.
Sorry to babble on. I think I am going to fail, but will try again. I hope I can learn from others here. Nice subreddit!
