Hey everyone, it’s been a week since my last update, and I’m excited to share my progress so far. I’m now starting my first of two eating days for this week, and it’s the perfect time to reflect on how things have been going.
Progress Update:
- Five Weeks In: I’ve been following a 5:2 fasting cycle, where I fast for five days and then eat for two. Today, I weighed myself for the first time in five weeks, and I’m thrilled to report that I’ve lost 17 pounds so far! I started at around 185 pounds, so seeing the scale hit 168 is a huge motivator to keep pushing forward.
My Routine:
Fasting Days: During my fasting days, I’ve been sticking to water fasting while doing a 10k walk on the treadmill at 4 mph with a 4-4.5% incline, and then following that up with 45-60 minutes on the StairMaster at speed 8. On days when my energy dips, especially after day three, I’ve been managing at least 20 minutes on the StairMaster after my other cardio, followed by some stretching.
Eating Days: Today kicks off my first eating day of the week. I’m sticking to my usual high-protein, low-carb, low-sugar plan to refuel and recover from the past five days.
Observations:
Weight Loss: Dropping 17 pounds over five weeks has been a great confidence boost. I can see and feel the changes—my clothes fit better, and I’m seeing more muscle definition, especially in my arms and legs.
Energy Levels: The fasting days are still tough, particularly as the week progresses. Day five is always a challenge, but it feels worth it knowing that I’m burning through fat and reaching autophagy by day three.
Keto Rash: The keto rash I mentioned last week is still hanging around my ankles and feet, but it hasn’t gotten any worse, so I’m just keeping an eye on it for now.
Takeaways:
Consistency is Key: Sticking to this routine—despite the challenges—has paid off. The combination of fasting and intense workouts has been a game-changer for me.
Mental Toughness: Each week, I’m reminded that this journey is as much about mental strength as it is about physical. The cravings and fatigue are real, but so is the progress!
Looking Ahead:
I’m excited to enjoy my eating days, hit the gym for some strength training, and refuel my body. I’ll be back to fasting soon enough, but for now, I’m celebrating the progress and staying focused on the goal.
Thanks for all the support and advice so far—this community has been a huge help in keeping me on track. Here’s to another week of progress!
