Best timing to keep the strength up?

So in the past I have done IF to cut and look more defined but I haven't done it for a long time or in times when I wanted to stay as strong as possible.
I like the "better" feeling I have doing IF and I am wondering from those maybe experienced with fitness alongside this style of eating what have you found as the best timings to make sure you still stay as strong and energetic as possible?
