I've asked other EDS/Chiari/CCI patients about this, and they aren't entirely sure what this is. So here goes.
I spend a lot of time in bed on my laptop. Sometimes, I lay on my belly, sometimes I stretch out on my side, and sometimes, I sit "criss cross applesauce" with my laptop on a stack of pillows. I tend to cycle through these three positions during my time in bed.
But when I change from one of those positions to another, all while looking forward at my laptop screen, it causes an intense, audible-to-me pounding in the back of my neck. It's not painful, but it is uncomfortable. The only thing I can do is wait it out or lower my head toward the bed for 15 or 20 seconds. It feels like my blood is pulsing *really* hard through the back of my neck.
Maybe this is nothing more than a harmless bodily quirk, and maybe it's something that I need to look into. Has anyone else dealt with this?
