Vascular vs Classical EDS. Diagnosed with Classical type but worrying.
Post Body

I am 40 years of age & I was diagnosed with Classical Type EDS at 24. In fact, my official diagnosis was mild Type 2. My Father has EDS, his Sister & my grandmother although she passed away in her 45 I think. I was told she had died from a heart attack. My Aunty is in her 50’s & the only complication she has had was a blood clot on her lungs & is now on medication as they said her blood levels were high. My Dad is 61 & in generally good health apart from bad hips. I have very stretchy skin which tears easily & scars like a cigarette paper. I am very hypomobile although I do not dislocate anything I just hyper extend. My dad is the same as me in fact he cuts easier than me & bruises really easily. My son who is 12 & also has been diagnosed with EDS appears not to be affected as bad as me.

I was concerned years ago when I found out that my grandmother died of an heart attack & I was convinced that I may have the Vascular type. I saw a renowned EDS expert called Professor Bird in England who looked at my family tree & symptoms & said I did not have the vascular type.

However, when I see things about the Vascular type on the internet etc I sets me off again panicking about it & whether in fact I do have this type.

Can someone please give me any advice on whether this is a possibility?

Edit: EDS Suport group website says: Although skin hyperextensibility characterises all EDS types (except for vascular EDS (vEDS) which has noticeably translucent skin with visible veins) its presence and severity are very variable in hEDS.
