So yesterday I had another doctor's appointment. I finally convinced a doctor to cooperate with me. He talked to me for about 2 hours. He is willing to do what he can to help me. Resources are limited, though, as he works for a small doctor's office that offers discounted rates for uninsured patients like me.
One idea that I discussed with him is performing a skin biopsy to confirm the presence of Vascular EDS (vEDS). He was fine with the idea, but he has a few questions.
What is the best place on the body to obtain the biopsy sample? Is one anatomical location better than the other?
Where should he send this sample? Most labs will test for melanoma by default and do nothing else. What specialty labs test specifically for vEDS in the samples they receive?
How much does this test cost? Due to his limited resources, he is willing to order any test up to $2,000. As an uninsured patient who does not qualify for any health insurance or public assistance of any kind, this is particularly important.
I tried Googling these questions and didn't find much of anything.
Thanks!!
